Marine cables should not be too tight and should be kept moderately loose to avoid excessive stress and wear of the cable holes. As long as it does not affect the safety of loading, unloading and berthing, the ship is even allowed to deviate slightly from the berth;
Use a "double figure of eight" method to wrap a non-slip chain or tie a sack, rag, etc. near the friction part between the cable and the cable hole, and try every means to avoid direct contact wear between the giant cable and the iron cable hole;
When the cable exit point on the ship is lower than the bitt piles on the dock due to tide, berth height, etc., the giant cable will rub against the edge of the dock. At this time, sacks, rags, etc. can be placed on the edge of the dock to prevent friction.
Marine cables are often used for mooring. Using marine cables to dock ships at corresponding berths may sound simple, but improper operation can easily threaten personal safety.
To avoid standing in the rope rebound zone, all personnel involved in mooring operations should be aware of the rope rebound zone, because most casualties during mooring are caused by cable breaks. Since the cable rupture will produce a huge rebound force, when the crew members standing in the rebound area are hit by the cable with huge kinetic energy, they will fall down and suffer fractures, or they will be killed in one blow.
